Allegorical cocktail ring designed by Eric De Kolb (1916-2001).
A one-of-a-kind piece of art, jewelry. An original sculpture designed by the famous Austrian surrealist artist Eric de Kolb.
This allegorical design was created around the 1960's in solid 18 karats yellow gold. Recreate 6 humans figures, holding an Aztec-faced carved gemstone. The gem is a natural Colombian green emerald, (25 x 17 mm) of 28.53 carats, not treated and not oiled.
Eric De Kolb, Baron Eric De Kolb-Wartenberg, born in Vienna, Austria in the 1916. Was a surrealist artist; painter, sculptor, jeweler and fashion designer. His artistic skills were very diverse, his surrealist paintings were created in a vast array of styles, and his mini sculptures were created in many different styles and materials. His jewelry pieces, was always created as unique pieces, using the old millennial method of "Cie Perdue" lost wax in which a tiny was sculpture is converted to a clay form mold. then the mold is heated until the wax flows out and then is filled with gold. the mold is broken to release the piece, with the result that each cast piece is one-of-a-kind.
He bring his fascination with the pre-Columbian cultures such the Mayans and the Aztecs into his jewelry. He was also an avid collector of pre-Columbian artifacts and some of them were incorporated into the jewelry he created, like this piece.
This ring is pretty heavy, with a total weight of 35.3 grams. The shank is suited with an invisible spring sizer to fit any size between 6 and 8.75, perhaps larger sizing is possible.
Stamped, with his early period maker's mark, EK and the gold assay hallmark, "EK 18 KT".
The measurements are 29 mm by 25 mm and raise 24 mm over the finger.

Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.
Condition: The overall condition of this ring is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. The emerald, is secured in the settings. This ring has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
