Sculptural ring designed by Ed Wiener (1918-1991).

Beautiful sculptural piece, created by Ed Wiener in New York, back in the 1970's. This over-sized ring recreate the Japonisme interpretation of the clouds from the Meiji period antiques scrolls. It was carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with highly textured surfaces.

Have a total weight of 27.4 Grams and the actual size is 6.5, sizeable. The top view measures are 58 mm by 48 mm (2.28 x 1.89 Inches).

Stamped, with the maker's mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed, "ED WIENER 18KT".

Ed Wiener (1918-1991), began his career in the artist's circles of the post-Bauhaus. Was very active at Provincetown and the Greenwich village in New York. Work immediately in the early days of the abstract expressionist movement of the post-war period, late 1940's. His most famous customers was the sculptor Louise Nevelson and Martha Graham, the dancer. He worked extensively in sterling silver until the beginning of the 1950 when he made a lot of sculptural pieces of jewelry in gold with precious gemstones.

It is in perfect vintage/original condition with the aged patina intact, is not polished. An amazing collector's piece.
