Cocktail ring designed by David Webb (1925-1975).

A rare and colorful piece, made at the Webb's atelier in New York city, back in the 1970. This cocktail ring has been crafted with a fluted scalloped pattern in solid yellow gold of 18 karats and carefully embellished, with applications of vivid red enamel.

Mounted on top into a bezel, with one round cabochon cut of 16 mm of a natural sleeping beauty blue turquoise, with a total weight of 35 carats.

Has a weight of 23.9 grams and the actual size is 6. Can be sized up or down and is suited inside the shank, with a spring ring flexible sizer.

The top's view measures are 26 mm by 22 mm (1.02 x 0.87 Inches) and raise 17 mm over the finger.

Stamped, with the maker's mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed, "WEBB 18 K.".

David Webb (1925-1975), was an American jeweler. On July 28, 1948, he founded David Webb, the company, which opened at 2 West 46th Street. Among his clients were Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis  and Barbara Streisand and Beyoncé have also worn his jewelry.

Born in Asheville, North Carolina in 1925, Webb was a self-taught designer whose work included dragon bracelets, Maltese cross brooches and animal motifs. In 1964, The Duke of Windsor purchased a bracelet for his wife. Diana Vreeland, a noted columnist and editor of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, was often seen with a David Webb black-and-white enamel zebra bangle.

It is in perfect condition, with the original red enamel from the period stated. The turquoise gemstone has great color, smooth surface and problem free such stains or discolorations.
