VERY RARE PITCHER DESIGNED BY CARLO SCARPA (1906-1978) FOR CLETO MUNARI.
AN EXCEPTIONAL PIECE OF ART CREATED IN THE 1970'S BY THE FAMOUS ITALIAN ARCHITECT, CARLO SCARPA. WAS PRODUCED IN A VERY LIMITED EDITION FOR CLETO MUNARI, IN MILAN. IS HAND MADE IN SOLID .800 STERLING SILVER WITH AN IMPECCABLE CRAFTSMANSHIP. THE INTERIOR IS EMBELLISHED WITH 24 KARATS OF GOLD VERMEIL AND THE EXTERIOR SURFACE IS FINISHED WITH A DELICATE BATTUTO (ITALIAN HAMMERED TECHNIQUE).
IS SUITED WITH AN INNOVATIVE FLEXIBLE HANDLE THAT ADJUST TO THE FINGERS AND HELP THE HAND TO ACCOMMODATE TO SERVE FROM THE SIDE.
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 1970'S, THE ITALIAN ARCHITECT AND ENTREPRENEUR CLETO MUNARI, HAD THE IDEA TO COMMISSION OTHERS DESIGNERS THE CREATION OF UNUSUAL AND USEFUL OBJECTS. THE ONLY CONDITION WAS THAT ALL PROPOSALS NEED TO BE FRESH, ORIGINAL AND MODERNIST. THE PIECES PRODUCED WAS VERY INFLUENCED BY THE MEMPHIS ART MOVEMENT.
CARLO SCARPA WAS ONE OF THEM, ONE OF THE MOST RECOGNIZED DESIGNERS IN ITALY OF THE 20TH CENTURY. SCARPA CREATED IMPORTANT DESIGNS FOR PIECES TO BE MADE IN GLASS (Venini), CERAMIC, STERLING AND GOLD. THIS PITCHER IS THE NUMBER 116 FROM AN EDITION OF ONLY 300 PIECES. THE EDITION IS COMPLETED AND CLOSED, NO MORE WILL BE PRODUCED.
STAMPED WITH A FACSIMILE SIGNATURE AND THE ITALIAN HALLMARKS, "C. SCARPA, CLETO MUNARI 116 / 300 BATTUTO A MANO .800 *230VI".
AS A NOTE, THIS MODEL WAS CREATED IN TWO VERSIONS, WITH AND WITHOUT THE 24 KT GOLD FINISH IN THE INTERIOR, THE MOST RARE IS THIS ONE, WITH GOLD VERMEIL INTERIOR.
