*Alfred Dunhill 1930 Paris Art-Deco cigar box in Burl wood, Agate and 18 kt yellow gold
A cigar-matches wood box designed by Alfred Dunhill.
Rare antique French art-deco cigar box, created in Paris, France for Alfred Dunhill, circa 1930. It was crafted in carved natural burl wood, with semi French polished finish and embellished, with details in 18 karats of high polished yellow gold.
Is mounted on top, with an oval cabochon cut (40 x 30 x 6 mm) of a natural agate of about 51.52 carats.
The craftmanship of this box is exceptional, Was carefully assembled and suited at the back, with invisible hinges. The interior has three compartments; two of them for cigarettes and one in the middle for matches, with a discrete hinged lid.
Has a total weight of 260 grams and a measures of 1.56 by 4.25 by 8 inches (3.9 ×10.8×20.4 Cm).
Stamped, with clear French hallmarks; the eagle's head for the assay and the guaranty of the 18 kt gold, the maker's maitre cartouche for LU SZ and signed, "A, DUNHILL".
It is in great condition with the usual wear.
