A south-seas pearl cocktail ring designed by David Webb (1925-1975).

An outstanding cocktail ring created in New York City at the atelier of David Webb, circa 1975. This bold and substantial piece is masterfully crafted in solid 18-karat yellow gold, with the diamond settings executed in platinum of .900/.999 fineness, all enhanced with a high-polished finish that accentuates its strong and luxurious presence.

The design features softly curved symmetrical edges and structured geometric patterns, hallmarks of David Webb’s distinctive and commanding aesthetic. The ring is further embellished with natural gemstones, including twenty-four white colorless diamonds and two Colombian emeralds, carefully set to enhance the brilliance and contrast of the composition. At the center, the ring showcases a fabulous extra-large South Sea white pearl, selected for its impressive size, exceptional luster, and luminous beauty. The pearl serves as the magnificent focal point of the design, creating a harmonious balance between the bold gold structure, vibrant gemstones, and elegant organic form.

A powerful statement piece, this cocktail ring exemplifies the iconic style and exceptional craftsmanship of David Webb, seamlessly combining sculptural design, luxurious materials, and refined artistry.

South-Seas Pearls

South Sea pearls are prized for their large size and unique colors, as well as their high luster and smooth surface. They are also known for their rarity, as they are more difficult to cultivate than other types of pearls. The Pinctada maxima oyster can take up to five years to produce a single South Sea pearl, whereas more common freshwater oysters can take as little as three months and create dozens of pearls. This long cultivation process makes South Sea pearls rarer and more expensive. If you're looking to invest in a design to hand down to future generations, South Sea pearl jewelry is ideal. Highly sought after, these luxurious pearls are prized for their lusters, and make for distinctive legacy designs.
