An art deco clip brooch designed by Wedderien.

An exceptional piece from the American art deco period, created in the city of New York by the jewelers Wedderien, back in the 1928. This gorgeous piece has been crafted with a beautiful geometric pattern in solid platinum. Fitted with a hinged pin bar with a security lock and mounted with a great selection of natural earth mined gemstones. This piece can be used as a brooch of course, as a pendant on a chain or as a holder for a pearl necklace.

This is a great colorful piece with extremely high quality for any collector of American art deco jewelry.

Diamonds: Mount with 22 round European cut diamonds, 0.55 carats, white colorless F color, VS-2 clarity.

Sapphire: Mount in the center in four prongs, with a semi oval double cabochon cut (10 x 11 x 5.5 mm) of a natural Ceylon blue-gray star sapphire of 6.53 carats. This sapphire is semi translucent, not heated and display a great asterism.

Sapphire: Channel set, with four (4) rectangular step cut (4.5 x 3 x 2.75 mm) of natural Ceylon blue sapphires, with a weight of 1.58 carats.

Others: Accented at the sides, with a pair of antique beads carvings of natural Green nephrite jade of 3.85 carats. This pair of beads was part of an ancient necklace since they display little perforations for the silk cord. They are not treated, dyed or oiled.

Weight: 9.95 Grams, (6.38 Dwt).

Measurements: 34 mm by 10 mm (1.34 x 0.39 Inches).

Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the platinum assay mark and signed, "WEDDERIEN PLAT".

Wedderien, was established in 1921 by Albert Wedderien, Edie Chase, R. Hellstern and Minnie Cosgrow of the renown Dreicer & Co. because the sudden death of the founder, shortly after his son’s death. The business, unfortunately, was forced to close. The latter, founded in 1910, was a world-class jeweler, rivalling great houses such as Cartier. However, this four ex employees,  decided to re-organize and establish Wedderien. As those four included an experienced watchmaker, gem buyer, jeweler and pearl stringer, they covered all the necessary bases to continue manufacturing fine jewels. The showroom was located at Madison Avenue and Fifty Second Street in New York City. They catered to exclusive clientele as Dreicer & Co. was on par with Cartier at the time. Clients included United States presidents, the Clark family, Dreicer supplied The Clark Pink, Huguette Clark's famous pink diamond ring which sold for a record setting 15.7 million USD in 2012, and numerous other society figures. Wedderien jewels are defined by rarity, glamour, luxury and elegance. Wedderien jewels are uncommon and rarely appear on the market.

Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.

ConditionThe overall condition of this piece is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the platinum. All gemstones, are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
