A Victorian set of cufflinks and tie pin.

Very colorful set of cufflinks and tie pin created during the Victorian period, back in the 1900. This set has been assembled together with five rare and beautiful banded agates and wires made up in solid yellow gold of 18 karats. The tie pin is fitted with a gold filled chained push back as usual. They are embellished with five natural earth mined diamonds.

Banded Agate

It is a type of chalcedony, which is a mineral composed of microcrystalline quartz. It is characterized by its unique banding pattern, which is created by layers of chalcedony and other minerals like iron oxide and manganese oxide. The most obvious part of an agate's definition is banding: true agates are almost always translucent (letting through some light when you shine a light on it) and have banding- thin visible layers. Often these bands form concentric rings, though not always. The patterns can be quite wild.

Diamonds: Mounted in bezel settings, with 5 round brilliant cut diamonds, 0.10 carats, white colorless F/G color, VS/SI clarity.

Agate: Mounted in wires with, 5 round double cabochon cuts carved from natural Scottish brown and white banded agates, with an estimate total weight of 27.37 carats.

Birthstone: Banded agate for the month of May.

Weight: 10.95 Grams, (7.05 Dwt).

Measurements: 13 mm by 26 mm (0.51 x 1.02 Inches).

Hallmarks: Unmarked, the wire parts were tested for 18kt gold. (The back of the tie pin is GF).

Collateral: They are accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.

Condition: The overall condition of these cufflinks are excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. All gemstones are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
