-Georgian 1760 Iberian Corsage Girandole Brooch In 18-20Kt Gold With Gemstones
Magnificent Portuguese girandole brooch.
Fabulous Girandole pendant-brooch of Georgian-Iberian origin. Adorned with foil-backed-amethysts and green topaz, set in solid high karats yellow gold of 18 and 20 karats. Most surely crafted in Portugal with gold and gemstones exported from the Minas Gerais in Brazil, circa 1760-80. Designed with rococo patterns and delicate pastel colors which conformed the passion for taste of the 18th century period. The piece is extremely tactile in the hand, on scrolled foliate design with flowerheads motifs, suspending one detachable pear-shaped drop.
The ring pendant fitting on top, is a later addition to what was most likely part of a bigger garniture or necklace. Fitted at the reverse with a hinged horizontal bar and a hook to wear as a brooch. Can be wear as a pendant in a chain or necklace.
Amethyst: Mount in close cased plump settings, with an assortment of 18 natural light purple Brazilian amethysts of different cuts and shapes. The gemstones are foiled back as usual, with an approximate total weight of 27.50 carats.
Green Topaz: Mount in cased open bezel settings, with an assortment of 10 natural light green Brazilian topaz of different cuts and shapes. The gemstones are not foiled back and has an approximate total weight of 8.65 carats.
Birthstone: Amethyst for the month of February and green topaz for November.

Measurements: 65 mm by 73 mm (2.56 x 2.87 Inches).
Hallmarks: None, with Indecipherable marks. The gold was electronically tested for 18kt and 20 karats.
Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.
Condition: The overall condition of this piece is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. All gemstones are secured in the settings. This brooch has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
