Suite of Frogs brooches designed by Chanel.

An extremely rare and highly collectable vintage pair of pieces. These tree frog's with webbed feet brooches, were created in Paris France by the fashion house of Chanel back in the 1970's. Both are almost identical, with minimal variations in the body patterns and are crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with polished and brushed finish. Suited with hinged pins bars with a safety trombone lock.

The frog's eyes are bezel set with four oval cabochon cut of natural black onyx of about 2 carats.

They have a combined weight of 39.7 Grams and a each one has a three-dimensional measures of 38 mm by 35 mm by 14 mm (1.5 x 1.38 x 0.55 Inches).

They are stamped, with French hallmarks, the eagle's head for the assay and guaranty of the 18 kt gold, the maker's maitre cartouche Ste. CD (Societe CD), the serial numbers and signed in full, "CHANEL .750 GA87, GA88".

HistoryThe first little Chanel frogs were designed in 1930 by Fulco Verdura, since then they have become an icon of the house. In 1940, the Reinad jewelry company began marketing similar enameled frogs signed by Chanel. The company Reinad was sued by Coco Chanel under the allegation of design rights. Since then the iconic frog has made its debut in jewelry design.

Note: Only 99 pieces has been produced back in the 1970's, serially numbered from GA01 to GA99.

Note: Pieces of 18 kt gold jewelry from this period, designed by Chanel are very rare to see on the market. These pieces are definitely a great pair and serious collector's items.
