A three-dimensional wearable sculpture made in Paris, France circa 1970's. This one-of-a-kind cocktail ring was created by Dinh Van for a Pierre Cardin's runaway. It was carefully crafted, with a sleek oval shaped body in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with high polished finish
The three-dimensional design of this rare piece is composed by the synthesis of the anagram of the P and the C of the designer's name, Pierre Cardin.
Mounted on top, with one oval cabochon cut (19 x 15 x 10 mm) of a natural blue turquoise of 22.85 carats.
Have a total weight of 22.8 grams and the actual size is 5.5, cannot be enlarged.
The top view measures are 18 mm by 22 mm and raise 14 mm over the finger.
Stamped, with French hallmarks; the eagle's head for the assay and guaranty of the 18 kt gold and the maker's maitre cartouche CLM associated to Pierre Cardin.
Jean Dinh Van is a French designer that began is successful career in the 1960 designing for the French jewelry houses of Cartier and Pierre Cardin. In 1972 he started his own company and the followed years his revolutionary designs and style caught on quickly and launched him to the forefront of the jewelry and fashion world. All his designs are very geometric and modern, both, his original vintage pieces created for Cartier and the contemporary creations are highly collectible. Dinh Van pieces are very fashionable, sophisticate and easy to wear, also can be displayed as a small toys, sculptures and "objects du Vertu".
Pierre Cardin, born as Pietro Costante Cardin in 1922. He was an Italian-born naturalized-French fashion designer. He is known for what were his avant-garde style and Space Age designs. He preferred geometric shapes and motifs, often ignoring the female form. He advanced into unisex fashions, sometimes experimental, and not always practical.Cardin moved to Paris in 1945. There, he studied architecture and worked with the fashion house of Paquin after World War II. He worked with Elsa Schiaparelli until he became head of Christian Dior's tailleur atelier in 1947, but was denied work at Balenciaga. Cardin founded his own fashion house in 1950. His career was launched when he designed about 30 of the costumes for a masquerade ball in Venice, hosted by Carlos de Beistegui in 1951. Cardin inaugurated his haute couture output in 1953 with his first collection of women's clothing and became a member of the Chambre Syndicale, a French association of haute couture designers. The following year he opened his first boutique Eve, and introduced the "bubble dress", which is a short-skirted, bubble-shaped dress made by bias-cutting over a stiffened base. He was the first couturier to turn to Japan as a high fashion market when he travelled there in 1957.

Note: This stylish ring is most likely designed by Dinh Van for Pierre Cardin. Dinh Van, trained at Cartier and worked for both, Pierre Cardin and Paco Rabanne in the 1960's before opening his own store in 1965. The clean lines and modernist style is truly 70's Cardin.
