TIFFANY & CO 1977 Elsa Peretti Carved Nephrite Jug Jar Bottle in 18Kt Gold
A jug jar necklace designed by Elsa Peretti (1940-2021) for Tiffany & Co.
This is a very rare vintage jug jar necklace, created at the Tiffany Studios in New York City by Elsa Peretti, back in the 1977-78. This iconic model was one of Peretti's first designs for Tiffany and was conceived as a casual necklace with a free-form pendant in the shape of an open jar at its mouth. Beautifully carved from a single piece of natural Nephrite Green Jade and suspended with a 18 karats yellow gold twisted wire from a silk cord.
The most interesting fact about Peretti's pieces is, that all of them are not equals, each piece have his own personality and are unique, with some variations in shape. This jug jar was made to hold a small decorative flower or just drops of perfumed oil.

Measurements: The drop jug jar itself is 41 mm by 27 mm by 21 (1.62 x 1.06 x 0.83 Inches).
Cord lenght: 34 Inches (86.4 Cm).
Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay of the gold and signed in full, "©TIFFANY & CO. 18KT PERETTI .750".

She was a very famous designer that joined Tiffany & Co in the 1974 and change the complete role of diamonds and color gemstones in fashion for the everyday wear and elevating the status of the sterling silver jewelry. mostly using unusual gemstones and materials. all her creations are as modern today as ever.

Note: All Peretti's pieces from this period are highly collectible. Actually this model is retired from production since 1979 and this exact particular model is one of the earliest one.

Condition: The overall condition of this necklace is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold or the nephrite. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
