Colorful Buddha pendant designed by Sasportas.

A beautiful and fabulous antique pendant from the French Art-Deco period, circa 1925. Designed with very symbolic thought that shows the figure of Buddha, with the arms crossed, seated enthroned and meditating peacefully on a rock.

This rare piece of jewelry was master crafted by the famous Parisian atelier of Sasportas. Made in 18 karats of yellow gold and .900 platinum, with applications of black hot enamel and natural gemstones. All the elements are individually assembled with invisibles screws and pins. 

The figure of Buddha is carved from a single piece of natural blue lapis lazuli and is wearing a miniature necklace, with several old European cuts diamonds and a natural white pearl of 5 mm. 

The gold settings are embellished, with millegrain finish and are set, with 68 old European cuts diamonds, 1.32 carats, G/H color, VS/SI clarity

The hat is topped with a 7 mm natural salmon coral and the entire piece rests on a huge oversized carving of green malachite. There is a small monogram MJ

Have a total weight of 71.6 Grams and a measures of 40 mm by 105.1 mm by 15 mm (1.57 x 4.14 x 0.60 Inches)

Stamped with French control hallmarks; two times, with the national eagle's head for the assay and guaranty of the 18 kt gold, the maker's maitre cartouche SAS associated to the Sasportas atelier and the unique serial numbers 70240.

Note: The French Maison Sasportas has won the gold medal in the Exhibition of Decorative Arts in 1925 and is known for producing very fine jewels with geometric and retro elements and combining, with different rare and unusual gemstones. All the pieces they produced are one-of-a-kind. It was also used as a workshop by other French jewelry houses such as Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels.

Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.

Condition: The overall condition of this pendant is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. All the gemstones, are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
