Panama-Pacific Exposition Panama channel bracelet cuff.

This is a very rare cuff bracelet created as a souvenir for the Panama-Pacific exposition, back in the 1915. The cuff has been crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver and decorated with a beautiful engraving depicting the Panama channel water lock at the Gatun Lake. The engraving is masterfully done showing the casemates, the trains, their rails and the lock's operating system. The Panama Canal Locks, which lift ships 25.9 m (85 ft) to the highest point of the canal in Gatun Lake and then lower them, were at the time one of the greatest engineering feats of their time, surpassed only by other stages of the interoceanic waterway project. There was no other reinforced concrete construction comparable in size until the construction of Hoover Dam in the 1930s. The total length of the lock structures, including the approach walls, is three kilometers (almost two miles).
