A modernist Zero group sculptural ring.

This ring is really a sculpture. Created in Europe and most probably made in Italy or England around the 1960. The artistic composition can be associate to the Avant Garde Zero-group concepts. The ring has been crafted in solid yellow gold of 14 karats with high polished finish. Designed with the pure geometric forms of a cube and a sphere, which is carved from lapis-lazuli, which looks floating in the center giving the appearance of light, space and participation. The construction of this ring is wonderful. It was made as toy, a miniature model with precise cuts, exact plans and fastened with two screws.

The Zero Group

The Zero Group was a loosely knit group of artists that emerged in Germany and spread to other European countries in the 1950s, led by Heinz Mack, Otto Piene, and Günther Uecker. The artists came together with the collective desire to move away from subjective postwar movements like the French Art Informel and Tachism. The main idea was to create art that was purely about the work’s materials and the world in which those materials exist, de-emphasising the role of the artist’s hand with focus was on light and space. The main exponents were Heinz Mack, Otto Piene, Günther Uecker, Yves Klein, Piero Manzoni, Lucio Fontana, Yayoi Kusama, Jean Tinguely, Lucio Fontana and Paolo Scheggi
