A cocktail ring with malachite designed by Gucci.

This large horse-bit cocktail ring is one of the most Iconic and popular models created by the fashion and jewelry house of Gucci, in the late 20th century. This beautiful ring has been crafted in Milano Italy in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. The setting is designed in the shape of the Maison horse bits patterns that are holding on top a natural green malachite.

Malachite

This gemstone is sedimentary and is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral. This opaque, green-banded mineral crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system, and most often forms botryoidal, fibrous, or stalagmitic masses, in fractures and deep, underground spaces, where the water table and hydrothermal fluids provide the means for chemical precipitation. Individual crystals are rare, but occur as slender to acicular prisms. Pseudomorphs after more tabular or blocky azurite crystals also occur. Its formation is based on layers of the same material that when compressed creates the variety of layers and the range of greenish colors. Each layer is individual and if inspected with a microscope you can observe its formation. Sometimes fissures are observed in these joints but this does not mean that there is a fracture or crack that would unstabilize the gem.

Malachite: Mounted on top, with 1 rectangle cabochon cut (15.5 x 20.3 x 11.5 mm) of a natural Hungarian green malachite of 26.65 carats.

Weight: 29.5 Grams, (18.91 Dwt).

Size: 7.5 and can be sized.

Measurements: 26 mm by 21 mm (1.02 x 0.83 Inches) and raise 15 mm over the finger.

Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the Italian gold assay mark and signed in full, "GUCCI MADE IN ITALY .750 18 *3749AL".

Gucci

The company was founded in 1921 in the Tuscany region of Italy, in Florence , when Guccio Gucci bought his own shop on 7, Via della Vigna Nuova in Florence, Azienda Individuale Guccio Gucci, where he sold imported leather luggage. He also opened a small workshop to have his own leather goods made by local craftsmen. Eventually, a larger workshop had to be acquired to house Gucci's 60 artisans. In 1935 the invasion of Ethiopia by Mussolini led the League of Nations to impose a trade embargo on Italy. Leather became scarce, pushing Guccio Gucci to introduce other fabrics in the composition of the products, such as raffia, wicker, wood, linen and, jute. The rombi motif, a Gucci signature, was created. The Gucci's developed a new tanning technique to produce "cuoio grasso", which became a Gucci trademark. In 1937, Gucci launched its handbags. Under the direction of Aldo Gucci (son of Guccio), Gucci became a worldwide-known brand, an icon of the Italian Dolce Vita. During the 2010s, Gucci became an iconic 'geek-chic' brand.

Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.
