An art deco ring designed by Cartier.

This is a magnificent art deco ring, created in Paris France and designed by the jewelry house of CartierThis colorful cocktail ring is very rare and highly collectable and was produced in a very limited special edition. The ring was carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish and decorated with geometric patterns accented with applications of purple and black glass enamel. The ring is embellished with a great assortment of twenty-nine earth mined natural gemstones, such: diamonds, amethysts and carvings of black jade. Other similar models to this ring were also produced for Cartier-Paris by the Parisian jewelry workshop of Strauss, Allard & Meyer around the 1920's.

Period: Art Deco, 1925.

Diamonds: Mount in a pave setting, with 24 calibrated round brilliant cut diamonds, with a total weight of about 0.24 carats, white colorless D/E color, VS-1 clarity.

Amethyst: Mount on top in a bezel setting, with 1 octagonal sugarloaf cabochon cut (15 x 10 x 5 mm) of a natural vivid purple amethyst of about 6.45 carats.

Others: Mounted at the sides in bezel settings, with 2 round bullet cabochon cuts of amethyst and 2 cylinders cuts carved from black jade.

Weight: 13.95 Grams, (8.95 Dwt).

Size: 7 and may be easily sized up or down on special request. French size 55.

Measurements: 33 mm by 26 mm (1.30 x 1.02 Inches) and raise 12 mm over the finger.

Hallmarks: Stamped with French control marks; the mark of the eagle's head for the assay and warranty of the 18kt yellow gold, the maker's mark Ste PB inside a lozenge cartouche associated to Cartier, the six-digits serial numbers, the French size and signed in full as follow, "CARTIER PARIS 55 D10722 .750".

Cartier and Strauss-Allard et Meyer

Strauss, Allard et Meyer, in Place des Vosges, were one of the most successful of the Parisian Art Deco workshops, specializing in luxury vanity cases and boxes, many of which were in the 'chinoiserie style', The offices were located at 25 of the rue Taitbout. The workshop at the 19 of rue Louis-le-Grand & later in 11 place des Vosges, Paris France. Their specialty was Boxes, paper-cutters, lighters and Ojects de Vertu. In 1909 Jean Gustave Maurice Allard & Emile Meyer opened the firm, Designing creations for the major Parisian luxury houses such: Cartier, Janesich, Lacloche Frères, Hermes and Boucheron. In 1919: Raphaël Strauss joined the firm. In 1941 Mr. Strauss takes refuge in the US with his shares of the company. In 1949: Allard sold the company to Jean Meyer, Emile’s son. The mark SAM was struck and registered from 1919 to the 1941. 

Collateral: This ring is accompanied by the designer's presentation jewelry box.

ConditionThe overall condition of this Cartier ring is excellent. Besides the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. The 29 gemstones are secured in their settings. This ring has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
