A cocktail ring designed by Baden & Foss.

Beautiful cocktail ring created in New York City by Baden & Foss during the post war period, back in 1950. This ring was crafted in solid yellow and white gold of 14 karats with high polished finish and mount on top with one Australian opal. The opal is surrounded with eighteen well matched natural white colorless diamonds.

Australian Opal

Opal appears to have been first discovered in 1849 in Australia near the small town of Angaston in the territory of South Australia. Within a few decades, major deposits were found and exploited in several areas of the country. Like all fine things, gem opal is exceedingly rare. Much of the world's precious opal is mined in the harsh outback of Australia, where a unique combination of geological conditions permitted the formation of opal near the margins of an ancient inland sea.
