MÜLLER & GRÜNSTEIN 1928 Art-Deco Lacquered Stambul Petrol Lighter In Gilt Brass

Stambul Supra pocket petrol lighter designed by Müller & Grünstein.

This is an original art deco pocket petrol lighter created in Germany by the Müller & Grünstein company back in 1928-1929. This pocket petrol lighter is named Stambul-Supra and crafted with a rectangular oval shape in solid gilt brass embellished with application of lacquer. This lighter is completely original and not a reproduction, has been cleaned and serviced to bring back his original splendor. This model was manufactured in three sizes; small, medium and large. This is the small variety and is a great collectable item, offered in working condition and near mint as 9 of 10. 

Müller & Grünstein

The company was founded in 1912 by Louis Müller and Martin Grünstein, the Elgerburger Feuerzeugfabik underwent numerous ownership changes during its 80-year history. The Jewish founders were forced out of the company on January 29, 1936 as part of Aryanization taking place throughout Germany during the years preceding World War 2. The names “Müller & Grünstein” were removed and the company was renamed Elgersburger Feuerzeugfabrik GmbH. During the Communist era, the company was expropriated and renamed VEB Feuerzeugfabrik Elgersburg. After the reunification of Germany, ownership of the company was transferred to the previous owners in 1990 before it officially closed in 1992.
