Wine ewer pitcher designed by Louis Coignet (1893-1928).
Magnificent wine ewer, created in Paris France at the silversmith atelier of Louis Coignet, back in the 1895. It was designed in the early art nouveau style with naturalistic and organic patterns in rich solid .950/.999 silver. It is composed by a fluted blown glass vase mounted in heavily decorated silver frames, adorned with volutes which are finished, with chiseled and textured designs. Fitted with a very elaborated handle and a hinged lid on top in the shape of a maritime conch.

Measurements: 312 mm by 190 mm by 142 mm (12.25 x 7.5 x 5.6 Inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with French marks; the maker's mark LC inside a lozange cartouche associated to the atelier of Louis Coignet and the mark of helmeted Minerva inside an octagonal cartouche for the assay and warranty of the .950 silver, (Osprey 133).
Note: The mark stamped in this piece, of a helmeted Minerva facing to the right inside an octagonal framed cartouche is listed in Osprey as number 133. This mark was used in France, between the 1834 to the 1919. The octagonal shape of the mark, refer exclusively to an assay of 95% silver or over.
Louis Coignet
He was the son and successor of the famous Parisian silversmith Charles-Alfred Coignet. The silversmith of Louis Coignet was located in Paris France at the number 14 in Rue Barbette. He took over the workshop of his father in 1889 and entered his mark in 1893 and struck it off in 1928 at the second location in the number 20 Rue barbette in Paris.

Condition: The overall condition of this piece is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the silver. All parts are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
