AMERICANA 1890 Sculptural Eagle Desk Tray in Gilt Bronze And Black Marble

A standing American eagle sculpture desk tray.

 This is an amazing and very decorative sculptural desk-tray created in the United States, back in the 1890-1910. The antique tray is made up with an impressive American eagle in gilt bronze standing in an oval vase carved from natural black marble. The eagle rests on the marble in a challenging attack position, its wings outstretched and its head and beak pointed to the left. The black marble is masterfully sculpted in an oval shape with its curved, highly polished sides. The back, where the American Eagle rests, is sculpted three-dimensionally to simulate a rocky surface.
