CARTIER 1970 Aldo Cipullo Bracelet In 18Kt Yellow Gold With Lapis & VS Diamonds
A bracelet designed by Aldo Cipullo (1936-1984) for Cartier.
This is a extremely rare bracelet created in New York City by the jewelry designer Aldo Cipullo, back in 1970. This bracelet was designed during the Cipullo's collaboration period with the jewelry house of Cartier in New York City between 1969 and 1975 as a designer. The bracelet is published in the Cipullo book and was carefully crafted with organic leaves patterns in solid 18 karats yellow gold with a high polished finish. It is composed by six stations embellished with six cabochons carved from natural lapis lazuli and forty-two white colorless diamonds. Fitted with a concealed security push box and a hinge slash for extra safety. Fully signed by A. Cipullo, by Cartier and serially numbered to be retailed at the New York branch in 5th Avenue.
Lapis lazuli Mounted in prongs settings, with 6 oval cabochon cuts (12 x 9 x 5 mm) carved from natural vivid blue lapis lazuli, with an approximate combined total weight of about 18 carats.
Diamonds: Mounted in four-prongs settings, with 42 calibrated round brilliant cut diamonds, with a weight of about 2.52 carats, white colorless F color, VS clarity.
Birthstone: Lapis lazuli for the month of September.
Weight: 91.2 grams (58.50 Dwt).
Length: 6.75 Inches, (17 Cm.).
Measurements: The wight is 36 mm (1.42 inches).
Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the date of production, the mark for the assay and warranty of the .750/.999 yellow gold, the five-digits serial numbers and signed in full as follows, "CARTIER 1970 ©A. CIPULLO 18KT 11223".
Aldo Cipullo
He was an Italian born jeweler. He born and was raised in a family of designers with jewelry traditions; his father was the owner of a jewelry factory and his brother Renato Cipullo made jewelry designs for Christian Dior. Aldo, was the creator of the popular and iconic Cartier bracelets, love and the nail, still until today considered ones of the best designs of the 20th century. He works as a designer in New York, for David Webb (1960-1969) and Cartier (1969-1975). In 1975 he found his own company as a freelance designer.
