Wander France 1960 Mid Century 18Kt Gold Earrings With Lapis Lazuli

Pair of clip earrings designed by Robert Wander for Wanders France.

Sleek pair of clips made during the American mid-century period, circa 1960.  They was crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karat and suited with omega backs for fastening clips. The posts option can be easily added.

They are bezel set with two flat oval cut carvings of natural blue lapis lazuli.  

Have a total weight of 19.9 grams and a measures of 32 mm (1.28 inches) by 24.8 mm (1 inch).

Signed and stamped with the assay hallmarks, "WANDER FRANCE .750".

Robert Wander, was born into a jewelry family who owned salons in New York City and Paris, as well as jewelry concessions in fine department stores though out the American southwest. After serving as president of his family firm for a time, he set out on his own and began producing his own designs under the name of Wander France and later Winc Inc.

Wander is remembered by fellow designers as a pioneer in jewelry creation who sold his work through some of America's finest jewelry galleries and department stores for over 40 years. He was among the first designers to travel to Hong Kong in the mid-1980's to find ways to produce fine jewelry at a very high level of craftsmanship, while making it available to a much broader audience. Along the way he helped found a jewelry production house, DWL, in Hong Kong, which would rise to global renown owing much to Wander’s challenging designs.

Condition: The overall condition of this earrings is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. All the gemstones, are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
