This is a very rare and seldom see pair of thumbprints clips-on earrings, created by Elsa Peretti for the jewelry house of Tiffany & Co., back in the 1980. This iconic pair of earrings are the extra large ones, crafted as left and right with free shapes in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. They are fitted at the reverse with comfortable hinged omega backs for fastening clips and the addition of gold posts for pierced ears can be easily done.
A very special feature about this pair of earrings is that they are the first version, created by Peretti in 1977. They are more solid, heavier, bold and bulkier. The quickest way to identify them as first generation is that they are incused signed and engraved in low relief on the side edges.
