Hoops earrings designed by Angela Cummings for Tiffany & Co.

Very rare sculptural hoops earrings, created in New York city by Angela Cummings for the Tiffany Studios, back in the 1977. This innovative pair is one of the very early wearable sculptural pieces designed by her. They was crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish and fitted with an invisible hinged spring closure system for pierced ears. This architectural pair has been designed with circular twisted geometric shape and embellished with natural black jade. Inspired by motifs of the Egyptians period and the arcs of the Cordoba Moorish mosque in Spain, see the illustration.

Gemstones: Mounted in inlaid settings, with 46 trapezoidal elements carved from natural black jade, with an approximate weight of 15.18 carats.

Weight: 23.5 Grams, (15.07 Dwt).

Measurements: 32 mm by 7.5 mm (1.26 x 0.30 Inches).

Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay of the gold and  signed, "©TIFFANY & CO. .750".

Angela Cummings 

She was born in 1944 in Klagenfurt in Austria. She take her education at the art academy in Perugia, Italy and at the Zeichenakademie in Hanau, West Germany. in the 1967 she joined Tiffany & Co working under the guidance of Donald Claflin and in the 1975, she was the artistic director for her exclusive line brand Cummings. in 1984 she started her own line of jewelry to be retailed exclusively at an in-boutique store at Bergdorf Goodman, in New York city. now she's retired from the jewelry business. This pair is very nice and a very rare collector's piece, both her signed pieces for Tiffany & Co. created in the 1970's and 1980's and also her own exclusive pieces, remain highly collectible and are admired for their beauty, comfort and easily recognizably in style. Bracelets has been also manufactured and we have seen this model in lapis lazuli and carnelian.

ConditionThe overall condition of these earrings are excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. All gemstones are secured in the settings. This pair has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
