Nadia Leger 1960 France Constructivism Geometric Brooch In 18Kt Yellow Gold
Rare pendant-brooch designed by Nadia Leger (1904-1982).
A vintage geometric constructivism piece, created by Nadia Leger in Paris France, circa 1960. This sculptural piece was crafted in solid 18 karats of high polished yellow gold. Totally constructed and assembled piece by piece, with multiples geometric elements. The reverse is suited with a hinged pin bar with a trombone lock.
This wearable sculpture is the number 3 of an authorized edition of only 30 pieces. The edition was not finished and most probably only three or four pieces was finally produced.
Nadia Khodassievitch-Leger (1904-1982) was a French artist. She was the first wife of the polish painter Stanislaw Grabowski (1923) and the second wife of Fernand Leger (1952). From 1919 to 1921 she studied at an workshop in Smolensk with the avant garde artist Wladyslaw Streminski and Kazimir Malevich, then she studied under Milosz Kotarbinski at The Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, where she meet her first husband, the polish painter.
She moved to France in the 1924 and studied at the Academie Moderne in Paris, led by Fernand Leger. she was a very active in assistance Leger and many of her works has been incorrectly attributed to Fernand Leger. She was member of the communist party and was awarded the Ussr order of the Red Banner of Labour in the 1972.
The weight of this piece is 29.2 grams and the measures are 57 mm (2.3 inches) by 36 mm (1.44 inches).
Stamped in several parts with the French eagle head for the assay and guaranty of the 18 Kt gold, the maker's maitre cartouche mark, a soviet marks and the engraved hall marks "Depose HXNL 3/30 .750 535".

Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.
Condition: The overall condition of this brooch is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
