Orbital cocktail ring designed by Roger Lucas for Cartier.
A fabulous sculptural orbital ring. This kinetic cocktail ring was designed by the Canadian artist jeweler Roger Lucas for the jewelry house of Cartier back in the late 1968 and 1970. The ring is one of a kind, carefully crafted with a bold massive look in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with polished and textured finishes. It is embellished with one sphere carved from lapis lazuli which is freely mounted in a tension setting with a bar, allowing the wearer to play and rotating it. This ring is very unusual and one-of-a-kind statement ring, with great eye appeal.
History
This piece it belongs to the period of 1968 and 1970. In 1969, Michael Thomas became president of the New York City branch and was instrumental in hiring young designers who modernized the company’s lines such Cesar, Aldo Cipullo, Jean Dinh Van, Roger Lucas, Jean Mahie, and Lisa Sotilis. On October 03,1969, Cartier launched a collection of about 200 jewelry pieces entitled, Astrological, Underwater and Geometric, all create by these youngs artists designers, all designed for Cartier and examples of their work were included in the exhibition. This unique piece could be part of the pieces exhibited in that event in the 1970.
Lapis Lazuli: Mount on top into a floating tension setting, with 1 spherical cabochon cut of 9mm carved from blue lapis lazuli with a weight of about 3 carats.

Measurements: 21 mm by 18 mm (0.83 x 0.71 Inches) and raise 12 mm over the finger.
Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay and warranty of the .750/.999 yellow gold, the five digits unique serial numbers and signed as follows, "CARTIER 18KT 30340".
Collateral: This ring by Cartier is accompanied by the designer's presentation jewelry box.
Condition: The overall condition of this Cartier ring is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. The lapis lazuli is secured in the settings. This ring was carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
