An etching by Pierre Auguste Renoir (1841-1919).
This is an etching on cream wove paper, made in France from the original drawing of Berthe Morisot realized by Renoir between the 1887 and 1897. This is the original (Stella 4) dry point impression signed in the plate at the lower left. This was first published by Theodore Durets for the Renoir Drawings in 1924. This was the only original etching of this work. Berthe Morisot was a contemporary and friend of Auguste Renoir and a successful impressionist painter in her own right. She and her sister Edma studied under Camille Corot.
Measures: Including all paper margins of 282 mm by 203 mm (11.4 x 8.10 Inches). The printed image is 112.5 mm by 88 mm (4.5 by 3.5 inches).
Catalog: In the Renoir raisonne catalogues as Delteil-4 and Stella-4.
