Clips earrings designed by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co.

These are a rare vintage pair of clips-on earrings created in New York City by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co., back in the 1980. The pair of clips-on earrings has been crafted in a cushioned shape in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. Mount into bezels with a great pair of natural earth mine Brazilian aquamarines from the Santa Maria variety. They are fitted at the reverse with gold posts for pierced ears and hinged omega backs for fastening clips.

Santa Maria Aquamarines

This kind of aquamarine is one of the oldest and most expensive color of aquamarine. Their trade-name comes from Brazil. They have one of the deepest blue tones which is natural and not treated. The deeper the color is more expensive. An aquamarine like this, very clean, translucent, well cut, of a deep blue Santa Maria color is known as the most expensive and highly appraised aquamarine colour.

Aquamarines: Mount in bezel settings with 2 faceted cushions cuts (14 x 12 x 5 mm) of natural Brazilian vivid blue aquamarines, with a total weight of about 10.5 carats.

Birthstone: Aquamarines for the month of March.

Weight: 24.98 grams (16.10 Dwt.).

Measurements: 22 mm by 20 mm by 8 mm (1.02 x 0.82 Inches).

Hallmarks: They are both stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay and warranty of the 18kt gold and signed in full as follows, "TIFFANY & CO. .750 PALOMA PICASSO".

Paloma Picasso

She was the daughter of the artists Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot. Paloma has been a creative force since the day she was born. Growing up in France, she was surrounded by art and was always encouraged to create herself, which she did with great enthusiasm—firstly, with childhood drawings and, later, through her now iconic jewelry collections for tiffany. Embodying the art and culture movement of the 1980s in New York city, Paloma was a progressive choice for Tiffany & Co.

Collateral: This pair of Tiffany & Co. earrings by Paloma Picasso are accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.

Condition: The overall condition of this pair of Tiffany & Co. earrings by Paloma Picasso is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. Both aquamarines are secured in the setting. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
