Panthers clips-on earrings designed by David Webb (1925-1975).

A fabulous pair of clip-on earrings created in New York City at the atelier of David Webb, circa 1977. This bold and substantial pair is masterfully crafted in the form of stylized panthers, executed in solid platinum .900/.999 fineness, with accents of 18-karat yellow gold, all finished with a high polish that enhances their strong bestiary presence. The design features distinctive panther patterning, a hallmark of David Webb’s early and highly collectible works. The earrings are set with four rare Colombian vivid green emeralds and a magnificent arrangement of three-hundred-seventy-six white, colorless VVS-grade diamonds, pavé-set to maximize brilliance and emphasize their luminosity within the composition. They are fitted at the reverse with French omega backs for clip fastening; the addition of posts for pierced ears may be easily accomplished. Each earring is also equipped with a concealed hook, allowing for the attachment of optional pendant or dangle elements, enhancing their versatility. An exceptionally powerful statement pair, these earrings exemplify the iconic style and superb craftsmanship of David Webb, seamlessly combining bold form, luxurious materials, and refined design. The total combined weight of the gemstones is 31.16 carats.
