Ropes earrings designed by David Webb (1925-1975).

These are an outstanding colorful clips-on earrings created in New York City at the jewelry atelier of David Webb, back in the 1970's. This gems-set vintage earrings have been carefully crafted with multiple ropes patterns solid yellow gold of 18 karats with textured finish. The earrings are embellished with fourteen natural earth mined gemstones such emeralds, rubies and sapphires. They are fitted at the reverse with concealed omega backs for fastening clips and the addition of gold posts for pierced ears may be easily done on special request.

Emeralds: Mount in bezel settings, with 2 round cabochons cut (5 x 5 x 3 mm) of translucent Colombian green emeralds, with about 1.24 carats.

Rubies: Mount in bezel settings, with 4 round cabochons cut (5 x 5 x 3 mm) of vivid red rubies, with about 2.40 carats.

Sapphires: Mount in bezel settings, with 8 round cabochons cut (5 x 5 x 3 mm) of blue sapphires, with about 4.80 carats.

Weight: 65.95 Grams, (42.30 Dwt).

Measurements: 35 mm by 29 mm (1.38 x 1.14 Inches).

Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the marks for the assay and warranty of the .750/.999 gold and signed as follow, "©WEBB 18 KT".

David Webb 

He was an American jeweler. On July 28, 1948, he founded David Webb, the company, which opened at 2 West 46th Street. Among his clients were Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Barbara Streisand and Beyoncé have also worn his jewelry. He born in Asheville, North Carolina in 1925, Webb was a self-taught designer whose work included dragon bracelets, Maltese cross brooches and animal motifs. In 1964, The Duke of Windsor purchased a bracelet for his wife. Diana Vreeland, a noted columnist and editor of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, was often seen with a David Webb black-and-white enamel zebra bangle.

ConditionThe overall condition of this pair of David Webb earrings is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. The 14 gemstones are secured in their settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
