Very unusual oversized hoops earrings, created by Donald Claflin for the Tiffany Studios, back in the 1973. These earrings are clips and has been crafted in Paris France with twisted ropes patterns, in solid yellow gold of 18 karats, with polished finish. The design is Composed by twisted thick wires of several gauges creating a free form mesh. They are fitted with hinged French omega backs for fastening clips. The posts option for pierced ears can be easily added.

Hallmarks: They are both stamped with French marks, the gold assay mark and signed, "TIFFANY & CO © .750 Ste. SGDG".
Donald Claflin (1935-1979) was an American jewelry designer most associated with the colorful and whimsical designs he created for tiffany & co. during the sixties and seventies. His start in jewelry came when he joined the firm of David Webb, known for their buoyantly enameled figurative jewels that were a fresh contrast to the formality of the fifties. In 1965 Claflin was hired by tiffany & co. to continue in the innovative and individualistic design approach that designer Jean Schlumberger had so successfully established at the firm.
