SUDRE Austrian Art Deco 1925 Barman Mechanical Cigarette Dispenser Striker Lighter
Mechanical cigarette dispenser barman designed by Sudre.
This is a fabulous and very rare piece of tobacciana, created in Austria by Sudre for Ronson during the art deco period, between 1925 and 1930. This is a gorgeous sculptural striker lighter and cigarette dispenser in the shape of a luxury bar, with a gracious barman. The bar is very elusive, the section where the cocktails are located contains rails that, when slide, reveals two secret compartments to place twenty cigarettes, which pop-up with a spring mechanism. It is fitted with a striker lighter and a scraper. This set was designed by Sudre and most probably manufactured for the French company Cado or for Ronson in America
The piece features a finely detailed chrome figure of a bartender mixing a drink with a shaker behind the bar. It includes twin compartments with sliding covers, holding up to twenty cigarettes, and a removable lighter shaped like a wine bottle, with the yellow striker elegantly positioned behind the bar. Stamped ‘M.I. AUSTRIA’ (Made in Austria), this antique item is truly rare and valuable, embodying the essence of the iconic Art Deco era. A remarkable conversation piece and a superb work of historical craftsmanship, this piece stands as a testament to the design excellence of its time. The lighter is in excellent condition and fully functional. Please take a moment to carefully review all the photos provided for details.
