Cluster cocktail ring with natural turquoises.

This is an statement cocktail ring, created in Italy during the late mid-century period, back in the 1960's. This ring was designed as a cluster, carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 14 karats with high polished finish. The ring is embellished with a great assortment of twelve earth mined natural blue turquoises from the Sleeping Beauty variety.

Turquoise: Mounted in the center in a ten-prongs setting, with 1 oval cabochon cut (13 x 10 x 5 mm) of a natural blue turquoise with an estimate weight of 4.75 carats.

Turquoises: Mounted in four-prongs settings, with an arrangement of 11 round cabochon cut (4 mm) of natural blue turquoises with a total weight of about 5.50 carats.

Birthstone: Turquoise for the month of December.

Weight: 10.95 Grams, (7.10 Dwt).

Size: 10.25 and may be easily sized up or down on special request.

Measurements: 22 mm by 26 mm (0.87 x 1.02 Inches) and raise 13 mm over the finger.

Hallmarks: Stamped with the mark for the assay of the 14kt gold.

Sleeping Beauty Turquoises

This kind of turquoise is noted for its solid, light blue color with no matrix. The host rock is granite. Sleeping Beauty turquoise is the favorite of Zuni Pueblo lapidaries and silversmiths for the purity in color. This mine was one of the largest in North America. Since the early 1970s, this mine was a major producer of turquoise. Artisans and jewelry companies love Sleeping Beauty Turquoise for its lack of matrix and reliable even color. This mine is still active and currently produces copper. The Sleeping Beauty turquoise mine was named after the mountain range where it is located, which from a distance is said to resemble a sleeping woman with her arms crossed. Increased government regulations and mining costs led to the mine's closure in 2012.

Collateral: This cocktail ring is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.

ConditionThe overall condition of this ring is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. The 12 turquoises are secured in their settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
