Lobmeyr 1900 Austrian Art Nouveau Large Blown Glass Amphora Vase With Color Enamel
An enameled blown glass vase designed by J. L. Lobmeyr.
Very unique large decorative antique piece, created in Vienna Austria by the Lobmeyr Company during the early art nouveau period, circa 1890-1900. This amphora vase was carefully blown in translucent amber glass and painted with applications of polychrome enamel with great detail of two seated young ladies in periods dresses, one of their most sought after patterns. Further embellished with elegant gold enamel. Designed as a round vase with an open top and three attached fluted handles symmetrically placed. Dated in white enamel, 1657.
Has a measurements of 286 mm by 279 mm by 279 mm (11.25 x 11 x 11 Inches), the open mouth has an open aperture of 178 mm (7 Inches).
J & L Lobmeyr, was founded in 1823 were, and still are, the most important retailers of glass ware in Europe, and is still family owned. Their amazing shop is still in Vienna, they commissioned the finest glassware from Bohemia and then decorated them themselves in Vienna.

Note: It is dated in white enamel with the date of 1657. We have not found any logical reference to the reason for this date, but in that year the Treaty of Vienna between the Austrian Empire and the Polish Kingdom remained in force.
Note: Though not signed, this is a clearly pattern that Lobmeyr was known for and made famous by.
