A necklace designed by Angela Cummings for Tiffany & Co.

Rare modernist vintage sautoir necklace designed by Cummings in the mid of the 1970's. It was crafted at the Tiffany & Co studios in high polished 18 kt yellow gold.

Composed by a large tri-dimensional ovoid sphere of 32 mm by 24 mm and 47 ovoid carved beads of natural tiger eye quartz,, each one of 17 mm  by 12 mm..

The main piece is embellished with a pair of oval cabochon cut carvings of natural tiger eye quartz, Both, with a weight of about 20 carats. This sculptural design create a beautiful contrast with the gold setting and the gemstones, having a reminiscence to the French-German artist Jean Arp.

Have a total weight of 176.95 grams and a length of 36 inches (92 Cm).

The total combined weight of the gems are 785 carats.

The gold part is engraved with the individual serial number and stamped, with the early tiffany maker's mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed in full, "TIFFANY & CO. C. 18 KT 1408".

Angela Cummings was born in 1944 in Klagenfurt in Austria. She take her education at the art academy in Perugia, Italy and at the Zeichenakademie in Hanau, West Germany. in the 1967 she joined Tiffany & Co working under the guidance of Donald Claflin and in the 1975, she was the artistic director for her exclusive line brand Cummings. in 1984 she started her own line of jewelry to be retailed exclusively at an in-boutique store at Bergdorf Goodman, in New York city. now she's retired from the jewelry business.

A very nice and rare collector's piece, both her signed pieces for Tiffany & Co. created in the 1970's and 1980's and also her own exclusive pieces, remain highly collectible and are admired for their beauty, comfort and easily recognizably in style.

Note: This model was also produced in red jasper, black jade and chalcedony.

Collateral: It is accompanied by the original designer's jewelry pouch.

Condition: The overall condition of this necklace is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gemstones or the gold. All the gemstones, are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
