CHINA 1780 Qing Dynasty Antique Porcelain QianLong Mark Vase w/ Rams Heads
Antique Qing dynasty porcelain vase with rams heads, Qianlong mark.
This is an antique 18th-century Chinese Porcelain vase created during the Qing Dynasty and stamped with the Qianlong mark (1736-1796). It has a blue and white glazed design of flowers with applied with three rams heads in high relief on either side. This vase is in excellent original and unrestored condition. There is some minimal light, expected surface wear, and minute glaze imperfections, consistent with the age and type. The glaze, clay, and pigment align with the Qianlong period.
The Qing Dynasty
Officially the Great Qing, was the Manchu-led last dynasty in the imperial history of China. It was proclaimed in 1636 in Manchuria (modern-day Northeast China), in 1644 entered Beijing, extended its rule to cover all of China proper, and then extended the empire into Central Asia. The dynasty lasted until 1912. In orthodox Chinese historiography, the Qing dynasty was preceded by the Ming dynasty and succeeded by the Republic of China. The multiethnic Qing empire lasted for almost three centuries and assembled the territorial base for modern China. It was the largest Chinese dynasty and in 1790 the fourth largest empire in world history in terms of territorial size. With a population of 432 million in 1912, it was the world's most populous country at the time.
The Qianlong Emperor
He was also known by his temple name Emperor Gaozong of Qing, personal name Hongli, was the sixth emperor of the Qing dynasty and the fourth Qing emperor to rule over China proper. He reigned officially from 1735 until his abdication in 1796, but retained ultimate power subsequently until his death in 1799, making him one of the longest-reigning monarchs in history as well as one of the longest-lived.
