British Postmodernism 1987 Memphis Geometric Bracelet In .925 Sterling Silver

Beautiful postmodernist piece, created in London United Kingdom back in the 1987. This geometric unusual bracelet was crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with polished and textured finish. The design is composed by six sculptural geometric elements made up of circles and triangles linked together with invisible wires. Fitted with a tension push bar as a closure system.

Has a total weight of 66.4 Grams and a length of 7.25 Inches (18 Cm). The width measure is 35 mm (1.38 Inches).

Each link is sign and stamped with the British lion's face and the standing lion hallmarks for the city of London, the maker's mark UH, the mark for the warranty of the silver and the letter N for the production year of 1987.

Memphis style emerged in 1981, when the Italian designer and architect Ettore Sottsass founded a group of artists and designers called Memphis. Bob Dylan’s song 'Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again' was playing on repeat during the group’s first meeting, which led to the group being named 'Memphis'. After the inaugural meeting, the group decided that they would meet again in February 1981. The members brought over 100 drawings with them, picturing a variety of bold, colorful designs with multiple stylistic influences. The Memphis Group went on to create furniture, fabrics, patterns, ceramics and other products in a distinctly Postmodern style that blended stylistic traits of 1950s kitsch, Art Deco, and Pop Art.
