Kinetic pendant designed by Oswaldo Guayasamin (1919-1999).

Beautiful sculptural piece of kinetic art, designed by the Ecuadorian artist Oswaldo Guayasamin, back in the late 1970's. This wearable geometric sculpture was conceived as a pendant in a circular shape with 9 graduated movable elements. Crafted as an unique piece with impeccable details in solid yellow gold of 18 karats and finished with high polished surfaces. It is suited on top with a movable bale of 18 mm to wear into a chain.

Have a total weight of 21.8 grams and a measures of 54 mm by 39 mm (2.13 x 1.53 Inches).

Signed at the reverse, with the engraved name of "GUAYASAMIN", stamped with the gold assay hall marks and signed, "TALLER GUAYASAMIN 18 KT".

Oswaldo Guayasamin, was born in Quito, Ecuador in 1919. He created a Pan-American art of human and social inequalities which achieved international recognition. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Quito as a painter and sculptor. He also studied architecture there. He held his first exhibition when he was 23, in 1942. He won the first prize at the Ecuadorian Salón Nacional de Acuarelistas y Dibujantes in 1948. He also won the first prize at the Third Hispano-American Biennial of Art in Barcelona in 1955. In 1957, at the Fourth Biennial of Sao Paulo, he was named the best South American painter.

Provenance: Acquired in the late 1980, directly from the artist studio in Dominican Republic. A private collection in Palm Beach Florida.
