Cocktail ring designed by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co.

Rare oversized domed piece, created by Picasso at the Tiffany Studios in New York city, back in the 1980's. This very bold cocktail ring has been carefully crafted in solid sterling silver, with high polished finish. Mount on top in a bezel, with a large oval cabochon cut (18 x 18 x 15 mm) of a rare natural translucent Orthoclase gemstone of 38.14 carats.

This is one of the rarest gem quality variation of Gray Moonstone, with great phenomenal effect of eye chatoyancy.

The weight of this ring is 38.4 grams and the actual size is 6, sizable. The top view measure are 26 mm by 27 mm (1.02 x 1.06 Inches) and raise 21 mm over the finger.

Stamped with, the maker's mark, the production year, the sterling assay hallmarks and signed in full, "TIFFANY & CO. 1985 PALOMA PICASSO STERLING SILVER".

Paloma Picasso was the Daughter of the artists Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot. Paloma has been a creative force since the day she was born. Growing up in France, she was surrounded by art and was always encouraged to create herself, which she did with great enthusiasm—firstly, with childhood drawings and, later, through her now iconic jewelry collections for tiffany. Embodying the art and culture movement of the 1980s in New York city, Paloma was a progressive choice for Tiffany & Co.

Orthoclase Moonstone, is a variety of the feldspar-group mineral orthoclase. It's composed of two feldspar minerals, orthoclase and albite. At first, the two minerals are intermingled. Then, as the newly formed mineral cools, the intergrown orthoclase and albite separate into stacked, alternating layers Moonstone’s delicate beauty and its long-established heritage make it perhaps the most familiar gem-quality member of the feldspar group. Feldspars are the most widespread minerals in the earth’s crust, as well as some of the most diverse. You can pick up a rock anywhere in the world, and you’ll probably find that it contains a mineral or two from the feldspar group.

Note: The moonstone is in perfect condition and is very fine gem quality.

This ring is a serious collector's piece and is perfect vintage condition. Paloma Picasso's jewelry is recognizable for the use of brilliants and colored gems, set in bold shaped designs.
