A jug jar necklace designed by Elsa Peretti (1940-2021) for Tiffany & Co. 

A vintage very rare piece, created at the Tiffany studios in New York City by Elsa Peretti, back in the 1975. This iconic model was one of Peretti's first designs for Tiffany and was conceived as a casual necklace with a free-form pendant with an open jar at its mouth and made of one single carved piece with wires in solid 18-carat yellow gold with a polished finish.

The most interesting fact about Peretti's pieces is, that all of them are not equals, each piece have his own personality and are unique, with some variations in shape. This jug jar was made to hold a small decorative flower or just drops of perfumed oil.

Weight: 7.85 grams (5.03 Dwt).

Measurements: The drop jug jar itself is 26 mm by 17 mm (1.02 x 0.67 Inches).

Chain size: 24 Inches (61 Cm).

Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay of the gold and signed in full, "©TIFFANY & CO. 18KT PERETTI .750".

Elsa Peretti, was a very famous designer that joined Tiffany & Co in the 1974 and change the complete role of diamonds and color gemstones in fashion for the everyday wear and elevating the status of the sterling silver jewelry. mostly using unusual gemstones and materials. all her creations are as modern today as ever.

Note: All Peretti's pieces from this period are highly collectible. Actually this model is retired from production since 1977 and this exact model in particular is one of the earliest one.

Collateral: It is accompanied by a designer's presentation jewelry pouch.

Condition: The overall condition of this necklace is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
