Gubelin 1960 Swiss Convertible Pendant Earring Set In 18Kt With 6.84 Cts VVS Diamonds
Organic convertible set designed by Gubelin.
An exceptional sculptural ensemble, created in Zurich, Switzerland, by the house of Gubelin, around the late 1960s. It was designed with three-dimensional organic free-form shapes in solid 18 karat yellow gold and white gold for the diamonds gems settings. The surfaces are finished with textured and polished finish.
This set is very versatile, the earrings are suited with posts for pierced ears (Removable) and omega backs for fastening clips. The pendant has a curve hook to wear as a necklace or display into a chain and a hinged horizontal bar with a trombone lock to wear as a brooch.
The white gold settings are mounted with 76 calibrated round brilliant cuts diamonds, with a combined weight of 6.84 carats, all of them are exceptionally white colorless E/F color, VVS-1 clarity.
Weight: These pieces are very bold and have a total combined weight of 60.9 grams. The weight of the brooch is 34.6 Grams and the earrings are 26.3 Grams.
Measurements: Earrings are 29 mm by 25.5 mm (1.14 x 1 Inch). The pendant brooch are 57 mm by 54 mm (2.25 x 2.13 Inches)
Each single piece is stamped at the reverse, with the Gubelin maker's mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed, "GUBELIN .750 SWISS".
The house of Gubelin was founded in 1854 when Mauritz Breitschmid opened a watchmaker's shop on the Pfistergasse in Lucerne. a few years later, in 1861, Eduard Jakob Gübelin was born in eastern Switzerland. he subsequently moved to Lucerne and was apprenticed to the watchmaker Mauritz Breitschmid. The year 1886 marked a special occasion in the young watchmaker's life as Eduard Jakob Gübelin married bertha Sophia Breitschmid, the daughter of his old master. In the same year, the two men became business partners, managing the growing company together.
In the 1920s Gübelin opened its own jewelry atelier and at the same time set up a small gemological laboratory so that it could test – and be sure of the authenticity – of the stones its jewelers used. It also continued making and repairing fine watches for a discerning clientele, developing a reputation that soon reached throughout Europe and overseas. Since 1854, the house of Gübelin has always been in the hands of the family and led by a family member throughout time the Gübelin family carefully nurtured its traditions. It kept the company’s core values alive and passed them on to the next generation which contributed to the success and growth of the swiss house.

Condition: The overall condition of these pieces are excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. All gemstones, are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
