Textured bracelet designed by David Webb (1925-1975).

A rare vintage highly textured and bold bracelet made in New York city at the atelier of David Webb, circa 1970's. These unusual and massive piece was crafted, with eight gradated scalloped elements, in solid yellow gold of 18 karats. The entire surface is finished, with hammered and textured patterns. One of the elements has a discrete boxed push lock, with a slash for extra security.

Have a total weight of 148.7 Grams and fit a wrist up to 6.5 Inches (16.5 Cm). The measures run from 26 mm (1.02 Inches) to 17 mm (0.67 Inch).

The closure is stamped, with the maker's mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed, "WEBB 18 KT".

David Webb (1925-1975) was an American jeweler. On July 28, 1948, he founded David Webb, the company, which opened at 2 West 46th Street. Among his clients were Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis  and Barbara Streisand and Beyoncé have also worn his jewelry.

Born in Asheville, North Carolina in 1925, Webb was a self-taught designer whose work included dragon bracelets, Maltese cross brooches and animal motifs. In 1964, The Duke of Windsor purchased a bracelet for his wife. Diana Vreeland, a noted columnist and editor of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, was often seen with a David Webb black-and-white enamel zebra bangle.

Note: This is an early 1970 piece, more bold and heavier.

It is in perfect condition, with terrific eye appeal.
