Lentils earrings designed by Angela Cummings for Tiffany & Co.

These pair is one of the very early works by Angela Cummings for the Tiffany & Co. studios, back in the early 1970's These pair of clips-earrings was named by Cummings, the Lentils and was produced in very limited quantities, between the period of 1975 and 1977. They are a beautiful geometric interpretation of the positive & negative, crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats and suited with posts for pierced ears (Removable) and comfortable omega backs for fastening clips.

They display a pair of oversized round double cabochons cuts, carved from natural black jade, with inlaid of natural Australian translucent vivid black opal.

Have a total weight of 13.95 grams and a diameter of almost one inch, 24.5 mm (0.98 inch).

Stamped with the maker's mark, the gold assay hallmark and signed, "T&CO. 18KT .750".

Angela Cummings, was born in 1944 in Klagenfurt in Austria. She take her education at the art academy in Perugia, Italy and at the Zeichenakademie in Hanau, West Germany. in the 1967 she joined Tiffany & Co working under the guidance of Donald Claflin and in the 1975, she was the artistic director for her exclusive line brand Cummings. in 1984 she started her own line of jewelry to be retailed exclusively at an in-boutique store at Bergdorf Goodman, in New York city. now she's retired from the jewelry business.

A very nice and rare collector's piece, both her signed pieces for Tiffany & Co. created in the 1970's and 1980's and also her own exclusive pieces, remain highly collectible and are admired for their beauty, comfort and easily recognizably in style.

Note: This model has been produced in two sizes, these are the larger ones.

Note: A variant of color for the opals was also produced using Australian white or black. The black opal like this ones was retailed twice the value of the white ones back in the 1977..

Collateral: They are accompanied by a presentation jewelry box.

Condition: The overall condition of this earrings is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. All the gemstones, are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
